IMMEDIATE RELEASE

North Dublin Chamber welcomes Airport Central

The decision by An Bord Pleanála to grant planning permission for the development of four office blocks has been welcomed by the North Dublin Chamber as a tremendous boost for business and employment in the area.

It is estimated that the number of jobs during the construction phase will peak at 400 workers on site. Once built, the offices are expected to house 2,838 direct employees with the potential to contribute €1.3 billion annually to national output.

“North Dublin Chamber has been a strong supporter of the development of Airport Central to realise the potential of Dublin Airport to bring economic benefit to the area” according to Ellen Drumm, President of North Dublin Chamber.  “We think there is big potential for further growth supported by strong local businesses”.

With the expansion of the Airport, the expansion of DCU and the regeneration of Ballymun, there is a glaring gap in transport infrastructure to support the extra workers and increased movement of goods over the next few years.  The Metro North project is central to this as it will be the spine that links these areas to the City Centre.  The North Dublin Chamber is calling for advancement of Metro North to the earliest possible date, ensuring the big investments being made will bring economic growth and jobs to the area, which has been an underperformer for years.
